How this discipline is approached
Structural work translates an engineer's design into a physical frame. Formwork is erected and checked, reinforcement is fixed to the specified cover and spacing, and concrete is placed and cured under controlled conditions. Every stage is inspected before it is covered up, because a structural element cannot be corrected once the concrete has set.
